Italian startup Gevi Wind develops AI-powered micro wind turbine for rooftops
Italian startup Gevi Wind has unveiled an AI-powered vertical-axis micro wind turbine designed for rooftops and industrial areas. The system adapts to changing wind conditions in real time, producing up to 60% more energy while staying remarkably quiet and efficient.
Certified Rooftop Micro Wind Turbine Marks a Global First
A German-made rooftop wind turbine has achieved a global first: official certification by the ICC-SWCC. With a compact 1.5 m rotor, verified 615 kWh yearly output, low noise levels, and over 20 years of durability, it represents a breakthrough in micro wind power for households and businesses alike.
Emerging Tech: 1 MW Airship Wind Turbine Taking Flight in China
China has launched the S1500, the world’s first megawatt-scale airborne wind turbine. Floating at 1,500 meters, this helium-filled airship captures stronger winds than ground-based turbines. Designed for remote and disaster-prone regions, the S1500 could mark a breakthrough in renewable energy, offering up to 27 times more power output compared to traditional systems.
Kitepower Challenges Wind Turbines with 100 kW Airborne Energy Solution
Dutch startup Kitepower is reshaping wind energy by taking turbines out of the equation and replacing them with high-flying kites. Their airborne wind system can generate up to 100 kW of clean electricity and be deployed in just 24 hours—a dramatic improvement over the lengthy, resource-heavy process of building conventional wind farms.
Instead of relying on massive steel towers, Kitepower uses a lightweight, steerable kite that captures strong winds at higher altitudes and transfers the energy through a tether to a ground-based generator. This innovative approach reduces material costs, speeds up installation, and makes renewable power accessible in places where traditional turbines cannot reach—such as remote communities, disaster relief zones, and developing regions.
With growing investor interest, Kitepower demonstrates how airborne wind energy could become a powerful complement to conventional wind power—delivering flexible, mobile, and cost-effective renewable energy for a rapidly electrifying world.
