Italian startup Gevi Wind develops AI-powered micro wind turbine for rooftops

Italian startup Gevi Wind has unveiled a new vertical-axis micro wind turbine that uses artificial intelligence to adjust its blades continuously for maximum performance and durability. The company has raised €2.7 million in seed funding to begin industrial production and advance its smart wind technology for small-scale renewable markets.

Making Small-Scale Wind Power Smarter and More Accessible

Founded in 2022, Gevi Wind aims to make small-scale wind energy both smarter and easier to adopt. According to the company, its AI-driven turbine produces up to 60 percent more energy than leading vertical-axis models currently available on the market. The compact system is designed for rooftops, farms, and urban areas where traditional wind turbines are often impractical.

AI System Adapts to the Wind

The micro turbine delivers 3–5 kilowatts of power and features an adaptive control system that continuously monitors airflow and environmental data. By adjusting the blade angle hundreds of times per second, the turbine maintains optimal efficiency even under turbulent or low-wind conditions.

“Our artificial intelligence system learns from the environment and continuously optimizes the turbine’s performance,” said Gevi Wind CEO Luca De Vivo.
“This self-learning behavior allows the turbine to interact naturally with its surroundings, improving both output and reliability.”

Investment Fuels Expansion and Innovation

With fresh investment, Gevi Wind plans to scale production, expand its product range, and integrate new digital monitoring features. The company also aims to complement solar installations, helping hybrid systems achieve greater year-round energy efficiency.
